Preparing to Install WordPress

To create a blog or website using the WordPress CMS offline before you upload it to hosting so that it can be accessed by many people, then you must install the XAMPP application.

XAMPP is an application that manages your website files that will be displayed in a browser that you use.

In this article the author will discuss how to install, and manage a blog or website using the WordPress CMS.

To do the installation, please first download the wordpress application via the https://wordpress.org/download page.

After you open the site, then scroll down, and click the Download WordPress button, wait until the download process is complete.

Next you open the wordpress file that you downloaded earlier in the form of a zip extension.

Then copy the file into Drive C precisely in the XAMPP folder, then fast in the htdocs folder.

After you fast, then right-click on the WordPress file, then select the Extract Here menu.

After you extract the file into the WordPress folder, the next step is to open a web browser on your computer.

Run Apache and MySQL on XAMPP Applications

Before you do the installation, you first run the XAMPP application, then click the start button on Apache and MySql.

Accessing WordPress Folders

After running the XAMPP application, in the address bar of your browser type localhost/wordpress then press enter.

The name localhost is the name of your local server, while the wordress name is the name of the WordPress folder.

Then press enter, then you will find the WordPress installation page.

The first page you will see after accessing the WordPress folder is the language selection.

Select the Indonesian option to install in Indonesian, and click the Continue button.

Then click the Let’s go! button, after you click the Let’s go! button, you will see a screen asking you to enter the database name, username, database host, and password.

However, before filling out the form, first create a database name that will later be used to store the website files that you will install.

Creating a Database with MySQL

To create a database name, the steps you have to do is open a new tab in the browser, and type localhost/phpmyadmin then press the enter key.

The next step is to type the name of the database that you will use under the description Create new database.

Suppose the database name is my personal web and then you click the Create button.

WordPress Install Process

Re-open your WordPress installation page to fill in the database name, as shown in the following image.

Type the name of the database that you just created, as the author shows the name of the database, namely my personal web, then write your username as root as in the image above, leave the password blank.

For your Database Host, fill in the localhost, and the Table Prefix, you also type as in the picture above and then click the Submit button.

The next step is to click the Run the install button to do the installation.

Complete Basic WordPress Web Information

Next, fill in the website or blog title form, username and password. For more details, see the following image.

To fill in the website title, you can determine for yourself according to the web or blog title you want, for username, password and email you can also set your own according to your wishes.

Completing the WordPress Install Process

After filling in everything, more or less as in the picture above, then you click the Install WordPress button, after successfully installing it, a success message appears.

Login To WordPress Admin Page

The next step is to click the Log in button and enter the username and password you use, then click the Log in button.

After successfully logging in, then you are then redirected to the WordPress admin page.

Opening the WordPress Front Page

To see the appearance of the pront page or the front page of the website, hover your cursor over the title of the website or blog and click visit site.

You can also use the second way by opening a new tab in your browser, then typing localhost / wordpress in the address bar then pressing enter.
