Adobe Photoshop Feature

Although Photoshop was originally designed to edit images for paper-based prints, today’s Photoshop can also be used to produce images for the World Wide Web. Recent versions also include an additional application, Adobe ImageReady, for this purpose.

Photoshop also has close relationships with several other Adobe-made media editing, animation, and authoring software. Photoshop’s native format file, .PSD, can be exported to and from Adobe ImageReady. Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects and Adobe Encore DVD to create professional DVDs, provide non-linear image editing and special effects services such as backgrounds, textures, and others for television, film and website purposes. For example, Photoshop CS can be used to create DVD menus and buttons.

Photoshop can accept the use of several color models:

  • RGB color model
  • Lab color model
  • CMYK color  model
  • Grayscale
  • Bitmap
  • Duotone

The version released in 2005, was version 9. The program was marketed under the name “Photoshop CS2.” “CS” reflects the integration of Photoshop products with Adobe’s “Creative Suite” application and is called “2” because this program is the 2nd release since Adobe integrated the two products. There are several additions to Photoshop CS2 such as multiple layer selecting and “warp,” the curve version of the transform tool and color replacement tool, which previously came as an 8BF plug-in.

For photography enthusiasts, Adobe provides a “reduce grain” filter that can help optimize photos taken in low light conditions. To “clarify” the differences between CS products and previous Photoshop products, Adobe removed the Photoshop eye symbol, which was presented in different forms from version 3 to version 7. Photoshop CS and CS2 now use feathers as their icon and identification form.

The beta version of Photoshop CS3 was released to CS2 users on December 15, 2006. Unlike Photoshop CS and CS2 which used feathers as their logo, the Logo for this third edition is typographical, with the letters ‘Ps’ in white on a gradient-blue background.

An early version of this RAW plugin is also available for Photoshop 7.0.1 for an additional $99 USD.

Photoshop is an industry standard image editing program aimed at raster graphics professionals, the price offered is quite high; approximately US$600. This situation provoked some programmers to design graphics tools (graphics tools) at a more affordable price. To deal with this competition, and to counter product piracy, Adobe introduced Photoshop Elements, another, more minimalistic version of Photoshop, at an affordable price; under US$100. This product is intended for home users and omit some professional features.
